When selling a new watch, or assisting a customer with a watch repair, there is always 1 question I get asked. “How often should my watch be serviced?” A fine made Swiss timepiece should be taken in for service approximately every 5-7 years. At that time, an Authorized Watch Technician will completely disassemble the movement and determine which parts need to be replaced. While disassembled, this gives the technician time to clean and re-oil all the parts. Once the movement has been re-assembled and has passed water resistance testing, the movement will go through a series of timing tests to ensure it is within the parameters set by the manufacturer. When completed, the watch returns to you the same as the day you bought it. Proper and timely maintenance will also ensure a watches ability to have a long life and be passed down from generation to generation.
