As ambassadors for the natural diamond industry, our family personally decided to visit our diamond source in Africa. One reason for this trip was to see for ourselves the impact our industry has on the lives of those in Namibia and South African communities. When we arrived, locals graciously allowed us into their lives, and we collected their words into our hearts. We visited youth groups in South Africa and met the children who look to these organizations for hot meals, before and after school programs, and coaching toward higher education. These children, in turn, fill their households with hope for a future without poverty. We visited the homes of the poorest among them and left with a renewed appreciation for conveniences such as plumbing, electricity, and fresh water.
